Hi, I’m Sarah Lauren

Welcome to Social Mom Blog — a space I started because I kept solving the same problems in my own life, over and over, and realized other people were probably stuck on the exact same things.

I’m a mom of two, a pet owner who grooms her own dogs at home, someone who’s renovated and reorganized more rooms in my house than I’d like to admit, and someone who built an online income stream from my kitchen table while juggling all of the above. This blog is everything I’ve learned along the way — written honestly, tested in real life, and shared so you don’t have to start from zero like I did.

What You’ll Find Here

This isn’t a blog about one narrow thing. It’s a blog about the actual, overlapping life of someone managing a home, a family, pets, and a bit of ambition on the side. Here’s what that looks like in practice.

Pregnancy and Motherhood

From the early weeks of pregnancy through postpartum recovery and beyond, I write about what actually happens — not the version that gets airbrushed for Instagram. Expect honest guidance on pregnancy symptoms and what helped me through them, postpartum recovery, newborn care fundamentals, and the emotional side of becoming a mother that doesn’t get talked about enough.

Parenting and Child Care

Raising kids comes with a constant stream of questions nobody fully prepares you for. This section covers everyday parenting challenges, child development milestones, managing toddler behavior, school-age struggles, and the practical, in-the-trenches advice that comes from actually living through these stages — not just reading about them.

Pets and Pet Grooming

This is where a huge amount of my time and genuine passion goes. I groom my own dogs and cats at home, and I run @socialmomblogdotcom on Instagram, where I share real grooming sessions with a growing community of pet owners.

On the blog, you’ll find complete breed-specific grooming guides, step-by-step tutorials for bathing, brushing, trimming, and de-shedding, natural and DIY pet care recipes, and honest answers to the pet care questions that come up again and again. If you’ve ever wondered whether you can groom your own dog at home — the answer is yes, and I’ll show you exactly how.

Home Improvement and Organization

A well-run home doesn’t happen by accident. I write about practical home organization systems, budget-friendly improvement projects, decluttering approaches that actually stick, and the small changes that make a home feel more functional for a busy family. Nothing here requires a contractor or a five-figure renovation budget.

Starting a Business From Home

A big part of my own story is building income on my own terms, around my family’s schedule, without a commute or someone else’s hours. I write specifically for women looking to start an online business from home — covering realistic first steps, low-cost or free tools to get started, content creation basics, and the honest version of what building something from scratch actually takes. No empty promises about overnight success. Just a clear, doable path based on what’s worked for me.

Sarah Lauren

I’m Sarah Lauren — a mom, a pet owner, and someone who’s spent years figuring out how to manage a home, raise children, care for pets properly, and build something of my own on the side. I don’t have a single professional title that covers everything I write about, because that’s not how real life works. What I do have is years of hands-on experience in every single category on this blog, and a genuine commitment to writing about what actually happened rather than what sounds good in a headline.
I’m not a doctor, a licensed therapist, a veterinarian, or a financial advisor. Where any topic touches on health, child development, or financial decisions, I share my own experience and research, and I always recommend speaking with a qualified professional for guidance specific to your situation. My goal is to be a helpful, honest starting point — not a replacement for expert care when you need it.

How I Research and Write Everything Here

I take the accuracy of this blog seriously, and I want you to know exactly how content gets made here.

  • Personal experience comes first. Nearly everything published on this blog starts with something I’ve actually lived through — a grooming technique I’ve used on my own dogs, a parenting challenge I’ve navigated with my own kids, a home project I’ve completed myself, or a step I took while building my own online income. I don’t write about things I haven’t tried.
  • Research backs up the experience. For topics that touch on health, child safety, or anything with real consequences if the information is wrong, I research using reputable, established sources — pediatric and veterinary health organizations, established parenting and pet care authorities, and where relevant, peer-reviewed information. I link to these sources directly so you can verify anything for yourself.
  • Everything is reviewed and updated. Information changes — especially around child health guidelines, pet care recommendations, and best practices for home businesses. I revisit and update older posts when guidance changes, so you’re not reading outdated advice.
  • I tell you when something is just my opinion. There’s a difference between “here’s a fact” and “here’s what worked for me.” I try to be clear about which is which throughout this blog, because I think you deserve to know the difference.

Why I Started This Blog

I started Social Mom Blog because I was tired of searching for answers online and finding either overly clinical advice with no real-life context, or content that felt like it was written by someone who’d never actually done the thing they were describing.

I wanted to build the resource I wish I’d had — written by someone genuinely living the experience, honest about the mistakes along the way, and detailed enough to actually help. Whether you’re here because you’re expecting your first child, trying to figure out how to groom your shedding dog without losing your mind, reorganizing a chaotic closet, or thinking about starting your own online business from your kitchen table at 9pm after the kids are asleep — I’ve been in some version of that exact spot, and I’m glad you’re here.

Let’s Connect

I’m most active on Instagram at @socialmomblogdotcom, where I share real-time grooming sessions, behind-the-scenes moments, and quick tips that don’t always make it into a full blog post. Follow along, send a message, or drop a comment on any post here — I read and respond to everything I can.

Thanks for being here. I hope something on this blog makes your day a little easier.
